Human Shield Evidence Submission in July 2019, a one page email with attachment
Clarification: I did not report the use of a human shield initially for two reasons:
1. I hoped the evidence I’d already submitted was enough for a wholesale review of NATO policies and TTPs (Tactics, Techniques & Procedures)
2. The Human Shield was put in place by our poorly equipped, ill trained and often unpaid Afghan security force allies. I felt sorry for them having to do the most dangerous of jobs (checking culverts for IEDs) as we (our NATO resupply convoy) sailed past in armoured vehicles and with outstanding medical evacuation facilities to fall back on.
